Streets meet, just like pages DAY 1 - OUT
‘Streets meet, just like pages’ is a collective fanzine project where the voices shape the output. Visual artists (drawers, poets, collagists, writers, photographers, painters, +...)!!
Through this open call, we made a first step towards the creation of a collective publication which aims to research and col- lect the different perceptions of our beloved (or not?) Antwerp.Every participation, in its subjectivity, will help to visually recreate the city. But not through a map or aiming to be a sort of guide, the publication will create a narrative of it through feelings and experience, through the eyes of the people who live it or used to live it.
That said, no matter what kind of relationship you have with the city—whether it’s love, hate, doubt, or a sense of precarity, your contribution allows you to leave a message to Antwerp that will live in this time-capsule-like publication. The creation process consist in a first online Open Call, then the next phase of the fanzine creation consists in 2 days of activites where together we will shape the evolution of the publication. The activities are divided in two days: OUT and IN.
Everyone is free to join one or both the activities-days regardless of participating to the open call or not.
DAY 1 - OUT
The first activity will bring us together in the city itself. We will explore walking as a research method.
It’s not gonna be a regular walk, we’re gonna try to pay attention to thin layers and features of our city that sometimes simply result invisible due to the everyday-life chaos. We’re gonna get inspired by the city, but we’re also gonna play with it.
We will bring with us sketchbooks, pens, disposable camera, chalks per frottage, scanner, etc. People could take pictures, collect physical object, draw, write down a thought, a poetry or whatever they feel inspired to do with what they are experiencing. We will then bring back our experiences in the forest! (Het Bos) Everything we created or collected will be shared there and could perhaps create space for conversations. In the expo space of Het Bos, a production-cube will be created in order for us to store our collected material and to start playing with it in the second activty.
Registration is not mandatory but encouraged for us to have an idea of the amount of participants :-)
