‘Sensory Safe Haven: Creating Your Space to Rest’

Za 26 september 2026
14:00

A hands‑on workshop by Exter.
It is a gathering for neurodivergent, sensory‑sensitive, and questioning community members to co‑create a rest space.
This workshop continues Exter’s research into designing spaces by and for neurodivergent people, and people who seek comfort in controlled sensory experiences. Earlier phases of this research included sensory labs — small, quiet sessions where participants tested materials, shared sensory memories, and practiced queer feedbacking, a method developed at IPOP that centres relational listening and embodied response.

Participants help configure the room by assembling soft materials, draped fabrics, gentle lighting, and tactile elements. In addition, workshop attendees will participate in a guided drawing session to imagine what their dream, personal sensory safe havens might look like. The workshop is both a co-creation process and a chance to think together about sensory safety, boundaries, and collective care.

This workshop will take place Saturday 26 September at Het Bos.

Image Description: An event poster with a clean, minimal layout. The top half has a pale background with centered text that reads: “26 September – Sensory Safe Haven: Creating a Space to Rest – Exter at Het Bos.” To the right of the text are two small logos: one for CRIP DREAM WORK and one for Het Bos, the latter shaped like a simple mountain silhouette. The lower half of the poster is filled with a close-up photograph of a bright yellow, fluffy, highly textured surface.
