How to become an adult these days? What does it mean to grow up?
During our residency at Bosacademie, we will dive into the topic of adulthood through eight distinct minds. We will work on a piece where each member brings their own artistic universe, to share and allow others to immerse themselves in it. The process is like assembling a puzzle made up of all our individual worlds.
This piece may encounter a celebration, a grand dance, transformations, an octopus as a metaphore, a purple scene (or a grey one), interviews with adults, a documentary, play with costumes, birth and death.
Who are we?
We are a collective of eight emerging international artists based in Antwerp, brought together by a shared interest in dance and performing art. After three years of studying and working together, we founded DRAFT8 as a support platform to enter the professional dance world.
Our primary medium is dance, although theatre, performance also plays a significant role in our work. We seek to explore the body's possibilities through physical and emotional states, imaginative and structured scores, and vocal work.
We consider dance to be a powerful means of expression, capable of bringing together different artistic languages, perspectives, and experiences into a shared creative space.
