Bosacademie at Artist Run Summer School

After enjoying the first edition of the Artist Run Summer School (ARSS) last year, Het Bos moves to Sijsele with delegation of Bosacadamie participants.

ARRS is a temporary space for work and learning, centered on encounter, collaboration, and slowing down. Not a traditional program, but a shared framework for research, experimentation, and collective action.
The Summer School takes place at MEER MEER, a project by Pizza Gallery, shaped by its resident artists.
The site is located around a former sand quarry – a space that, over the past fifty years, has transformed into a thriving natural landscape.

Fire Walk With Me
This year, fire is our central motif and metaphor. We gather around flames, as people always have. Fire creates space through transformation — it destroys, but it also makes things possible.
ARSS supports artistic practices in which social action — conversation, collaboration, activism — becomes part of the work itself. This approach shifts the role of the artist from maker to facilitator, and the focus from object to process.

Participants are invited to engage with the theme in their own way: concretely or poetically, through action, material, or concept.
The program runs from August 18 to 24, 2025.
