Artists Day #2

During the Artist Day Antwerp-based art organizations will unravel more openly the programs and ways in which they try to support the artistic practices. With the Artist Day we aim to bring together artists and art workers based in or connected to Antwerp with various (artistic) backgrounds.

By organizing two informal gatherings each year, the Artist Day wants to foster connection and approachability between organizations, artists and art workers

Whether you’re recently or soon to be graduated, new in Antwerp, working in the arts for a while, ...

The Artist Day’s purpose is to help anyone who is developing their work in between organization to:

• orientate themself in the field
• build an artistic base
• reconnect
• meet potential collaborators
• create new connections

Let It Z/Simmer

On this occasion, we are also inviting you to Let It Z/Simmer, an artistic aftercare & rest session. In the aftermath of demanding deadlines, we want to create time and space to slow down. A moment to take care of each other and ourselves. To mark a(nother) period of invisible work that many individual artists and art workers put into their practice.

Let It Z/Simmer, is hosted and guided by Jija Sohn. In her work, Jija is creating space where the participants can immerse themselves in a secure and alternative environment, encouraging them to unlock their creative potential. She questions how we can cultivate spaces that enhance thriving and fulfilment during backstage activities such as relationship-building, application writing, and online meetings— in essence, throughout the entire process leading up to presentations. In Let It Z/Simmer, Jija will focus on continuous ‘giving and receiving’ through a sensorial exploration, starting from an easy warm-up and eventually reaching an embodied conversation with verbal interaction and non-verbal interaction.
