Tell us about your favourite medium.
We are carried in cloth since birth. Textiles are the medium we are constantly surrounded by. They keep us warm, dry, and safe; they transform us, hide us, hug us, and hold us together. Memories lie in wrinkles and pockets. Naturally, my hands are attracted to what feels like home.
How do you develop your art skills?
When working with textiles, you need to take your time and learn how to be patient. The quietness of textiles brings me peace in a world that constantly demands results.
Is there a specific environment or material that’s integral to your work?
I work with natural and local fibers. For me, it is important to know where my material comes from and to ensure it is part of our environment here in Belgium. I work together with what nature gives us, not against it.
