Lady Blaxx Invites is a new project where the singer showcases female artists of color. Too few black artists are invited to perform on Belgian stages, Lady Blaxx aims to give them the stage they deserve. For this edition Calya J. is invited for a live-set and talk, next to Lady Blaxx herself.
Calya J.
Jessica Boyeleba Balehen also known as Calya J. is a music artist based in Antwerp. She writes, plays a number of instruments and produces her own music. At the beginning of 2020 she released her first EP, called 'Blueprint'. This EP contains a mix of mystical beats/soundscapes and soul/rap vocals. She is mostly inspired by Jill Scott, Rapsody and BLK ODYSSY.
With her own band and in collaboration she has already conquered a number of stages in Belgium such as: Trix, AB, Copacobana and Sphinx. Since the beginning of 2023, she has been working on a new musical show called, “PURP.S.”.
In collaboration with Het Bos, she also recently launched a new platform called “The Artist Report” where she gives emerging talent like herself a place to talk about paving their way as professional music artists.

Lady Blaxx, an eccentric, unconventional, and atypical singer in a traditional genre, Creator of a refreshing and captivating sound with her unique blend of alternative pop-rock and (afro)funk influences. She embarked on her musical journey in a diverse setting, finding inspiration in classic rock, pop, and Congolese music, creating a unique and inspiring sound.
Her live performances, renowned for their energetic delivery and unparalleled stage presence, have graced both large and intimate venues, including De Vooruit, De Arenberg, De Roma, and De Trix. Lady Blaxx possesses the ability to enchant and immerse the audience in her musical journey.
